I got to wondering if there is something about our universe and existence that makes the phrase, “blood of an eternal covenant” in Hebrews 13:20 not just something of religious interest, but a fundamental necessity for life.

I’ve been bothered by some of the news headlines, editorials and other reactions to Pat Roberson’s recent comment that Haiti’s earthquake calamity is connected with their long history of demonic worship. My concern is that some pundits seem to use a small slice of Biblical truth to build a skewed theology not only of “natural” disasters but of the way Christians are supposed to react.

Judas’ betrayal of Jesus set in motion a unique series of events unlike any other the universe has or will ever experience. Yet they were kicked off in the early hours of the night. Why would such significant events of history be kicked off in the deep darkness of night?
